How To Spot Fake Makeup

With the huge explosion in the makeup industry that we have seen over the last 10 years, there has also been a huge explosion in the Fake Makeup industry as well.

Typically fake makeup is made in factories over seas like china and India, where they are not complying with US cosmetics manufacturing laws. They have also been found to carry asbestos in many of the powder products including eye shadow, they are usually made in unsanitary work spaces, and many people have some sort of adverse reaction to these products.

The easiest way to avoid dealing with any of the above, is to avoid buying fake products, so here’s a few ways you can see if the item you are buying is genuine!

  1. If you’re buying in person how does it smell, a lot of fake makeup has an off-putting smell, the one I spoke about in the video was a fake Mac eye shadow and it smelled like dirt, something Mac wouldn’t do lol.
  2. Is the price too good to be true, I’ve seen some urban decay palettes on amazon for around $12-$15, the true cost of one of those palettes is $54 and Urban Decay is not going to be selling them that cheap, ever!
  3. Check the batch code, every product will have one if the seller isn’t listing it message them and ask for it, the batch code will tell you when it was made, where it was made, and the expiration date!

Hopefully this will help you avoid purchasing anything fake, if you want a few more tips watch the full video here!
